*POSITION SUMMARY*
The Utility Plant Operator is responsible for the daily on-site technical management of the waterworks facilities.
Under general supervision of the Power Plant Superintendent, this position performs mechanical maintenance and repair on a wide variety of equipment throughout the facility, as directed; independently operates, monitors, tests and maintains institution utilities; performs waterworks plant operation duties; and performs other collateral duties.
The Utility Plant Operator shall comply with the Department’s administrative rules and the agency’s policies and procedures including those related to the Department's overall Reentry philosophy of using evidence-based strategies, practices and programs which target an individual’s criminogenic needs and risk level.

Within *12 months* of appointment, must possess Distribution (D), Groundwater (G), Iron Removal (I), and Zeolite Softening (Z) Waterworks *Operator-in-Training* certification.
2.
Within *24 months* of appointment, must possess Distribution (D), Groundwater (G), Iron Removal (I), and Zeolite Softening (Z) Waterworks *Grade 1* certification.
