Description
1.
Follow district, building, and departmental policies and procedures.
2.
Assist with the instruction of emotional/behaviorally disabled students individually and in small groups.
3.
Provide assistance with the preparation of instructional materials and provide supervision and instructional assistance with
special education students.
4.
Perform clerical tasks, which may include filing, checking worksheets, etc.
5 Assist with the supervision of students both in school and community settings.
6.
Participate in non-violent crisis intervention training.
7.
Operate copy machine, laminator, and perform basic word processing.
8.
Guide student independent study, enrichment work and remedial work as set up and assigned by the special education and
classroom teachers.
9.
Treat all students, staff, parents, and others encountered on the job with respect, compassion, and patience.
10.
Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students and staff.
11.
Administer drugs/prescription drugs by ingestion in accordance with school district policy.
12.
Encourage and model appropriate behavior.
13.
Take all necessary and responsible precautions to protect students, staff, school property and self.
14.
Provide Behavioral Management Support - i.
e.
supervise time-out, manage conflicts between students, enforce class and school
rules, provide close supervision, motivate students.
15.
EBD Program Instructional Assistance; individual tutoring, small and large group supervision, observation reports, practice and
guide lessons introduced by teacher.
16.
Supervise students during lunch periods.
17.
Attend all scheduled IEP team meetings.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
1.
May be asked to participate in team processes for continuous improvement.
2.
Perform such other appropriate duties as may be determined by the IEP team or the professional
staff within parameters of the master agreement, Board of Education policies, state statutes, and
administrative rules.
Qualifications
1.
High school diploma or its equivalent.
2.
Currently licensed and/or eligible for WI Dept.
of Public Inst.
#883 Handicapped Children’s Aide license.
3.
Ability to interact effectively with students, parents, staff and others encountered on the job.
4.
Ability to follow written and verbal directions.
5.
Ability to staff the position for the scheduled workday.
6.
Ability to perform basic language, writing, and computational skills.
7.
Basic computer literacy and/or willingness to expand computer skills.
8.
Ability to work in an environment that may require demands involving physical interaction with students; within the parameters
of state statutes.
9.
In lieu of the above qualifications, the district may consider appropriate alternatives.
