Introduction
Join our team as a Human Resources (HR) Assistant / FMLA Coordinator within the Division of Personnel Management.
We are looking for a talented individual to assist with Human Resources for employees working at the Wisconsin Resource Center (WRC) located in Winnebago, WI between Oshkosh and Neenah on Lake Winnebago.
This is one of seven facilities managed by the Department of Health Services (DHS).
This full-time position will be headquartered at WRC and may work remotely up to 2 days per week after the training period.
We offer a team-oriented atmosphere with daytime working hours, Monday - Friday.
The schedule may vary based on training and operational needs.

Position Summary As an HR Assistant and FMLA Coordinator, you will be responsible for performing various human resources duties, primarily focusing on Federal Family and Medical Leave Act (WFMLA/FMLA) and recruitment activities.
Duties include: Serving as the primary point of contact for employees requesting to use FMLA and educating them on FMLA rights and processes.
Processing FMLA and medical verification requests which includes determining eligibility, reviewing medical documentation, and processing entries in Peoplesoft.
Providing consultation to WRC supervisors on recruitment and staffing activities while ensuring compliance with Wisconsin Human Resources Handbook and DHS policies and procedures.
Serving as contact for communication to the public regarding WRC employment.
Processing new hires and other personnel transactions and maintaining personnel files using the Human Resources Information System (HRIS), PeopleSoft.
Provide back-up coverage for worker’s compensation tasks.
Salary Information The starting pay is between $27.
00 and $29.
00 per hour (approximately $56,000-$60,300 annually), plus excellent benefits.
A 12-month probationary period is required.
The classification is Human Resources Assistant-Advanced and the pay schedule/range is 81/04.
Pay for current or former state employees is set based upon the rules that apply to compensation for the applicable transaction.
Job Details All applicants who may be appointed to this position will be required to allow DOA to conduct a background check to determine whether the circumstances of any conviction may be related to the job being filled.
All staff at WRC will be required to receive a TB test and maintain one on file.
DOA does not sponsor work visas for this position, thus, in compliance with federal law, selected candidates will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.
Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have both of the following: Experience working in an office setting providing administrative support (e.
g.
, scheduling interviews or meetings, drafting documents, reviewing documentation to ensure accuracy and completion, responding to emails, etc.
).
Experience using Microsoft Office Products including MS Word and Excel for tasks such as document creation, data entry, report production, data analysis, etc.
Well-qualified applicants will also have one or more of the following: Formal education or training in HR (e.
g.
, coursework, certifications, etc.
).
Experience performing HR activities within an HR office setting (e.
g.
, recruitment and selection activities, onboarding new employees, maintaining personnel files, using an HRIS system to process personnel transactions or payroll, etc.
).
Experience administering FMLA and/or Worker Compensation.
The letter of qualifications is limited to one (1) page.
