About the Position: The Winnebago County Horticulture Educator provides research-based horticulture information to Wisconsinites so they can make gardening and commercial horticulture decisions that keep their plants healthy while protecting the environment.
This position provides research and evidence-based horticulture management education, resources, and decision-making tools to home gardeners and commercial horticulture practitioners.
This dynamic position has an emphasis in the Horticulture Program including: - Horticulture outreach education, including teaching in-person or virtually, creating traditional educational pieces, and using social media tools, designed to reach diverse audiences.
- Provide responses to lawn, landscape and gardening questions using appropriate research-based resources.
- Direct volunteers that conduct horticulture outreach The main office for this position is in Oshkosh, WI, and the main programming focus is Winnebago County; however, some programming may also be conducted over a broader geographical area.

Responsibilities: Delivers and assists with planning outreach program activities, strengthens partnerships, ensures adherence to policy, and assists with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community.
Strives to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
May assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget.

Education: Required Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field of study Qualifications: Required: - Work experience (paid or volunteer) relevant to the programmatic responsibilities of the position.

Preferred: - Continuing education or certification in topics or areas related to programming focus.
- Two or more years of relevant professional experience.

- Demonstrated educational program development skills including planning and implementing programs; evaluating learning experiences; and communicating program impact and value to partners.
- Demonstrated skills in interpreting, utilizing, and applying evidence-based information and research findings.
- Ability to use problem solving skills to successfully address complex issues.
Work Type: Part Time: 80% This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing/Renewable Salary: Minimum $56,732 ANNUAL (12 months) Depending on Qualifications Employees in this position can expect to receive benefits such as generous vacation, holidays, and paid time off; competitive insurances and savings accounts; retirement benefits.

Actual salary earned will be 80% of the offered salary.

Additional Information: This position may be required to work occasional nights and weekends to meet the program needs and priorities of the communities served.
