Performs specialized assignments in the office of the Little Chute Municipal Court; this includes recurring and complex support assignments.
Utilize working knowledge and legal expertise to facilitate court proceeding and to meet or exceed Little Chute Municipal Court objectives.
The Little Chute Municipal Court Clerk is solely responsible for legal accurate filing of dispositions.
Incumbent under limited supervision performs duties that are highly complex, highly technical in nature, and requires workflow expertise and specialized knowledge.
The Little Chute Municipal Court Clerk assists with processes and decisions operational in nature while serving as the department spokesperson for the part-time Little Chute Municipal Judge.
The Little Chute Court Clerk also provides input on departmental process improvements, and recommendations on policies and procedures, and new legislation briefings.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for monthly hearing and trial court docket preparation
* Manages scheduled cases 6 months in advance
* Manages electronic paperless court record (paperless docketing)
* Coordinates secure file access via Fox Valley Metro Police Department
* Provides comprehensive court docket for village prosecutor
* Provide electronic court record and comprehensive files for each individual defendant for village Judge and village prosecutor
* Manages updates to current month court dockets
* Coordinate missing documentation
* Update voids
* Additional paperwork scanned to file for electronic viewing during court proceeding
* Reconciliation of payments, pleas, compliance
* Works independently on a daily basis exercising initiative, and judgment confidently in accomplishing court work
* Always maintain confidentiality of all court cases.
* Maintains the integrity of the court through fair and impartial communications and interactions with defendants.
Experience:
* Associate degree from an accredited school with course work in paralegal or administrative work, or equivalent experience in closely related field that provides requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for the position.
* Knowledge of legal procedures, documents and terminology used in court cases and proceedings.
* Ability to quickly adapt to industry-specific software.
Currently utilizing TIPSS Court Software, Docket Manager Software, Wisconsin Badger Tracs, and Microsoft Office applications.
* Certified Supreme Court of Wisconsin and Office of Judicial Education.
* Proficiency in drafting legal correspondence; and electronic data processing.
