Summary : The Manager, Pharmacy Regulatory Compliance and Medication Diversion Prevention has responsibility for tracking, monitoring, reviewing, interpreting, and communicating all aspects of existing, proposed, and newly enacted federal and state rules and regulations, credentialing body standards (e.

Joint Commission (JC), Det Norske Veritas (DNV), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS)) relative to the practice of pharmacy within the health system.
Provides oversight and direction for the management of the Medication Diversion Prevention Program (MDPP) including medication diversion education, prevention, monitoring, investigation and reporting.
Collaborates with others in the organization who are responsible and accountable for decisions affecting successful accreditation, compliance with federal and state rules and regulations and CMS Conditions of Participation to ensure organizational compliance.
Leads the development, implementation and sustainability of policies and procedures related to applicable pharmacy accreditation standards and compliance with federal and state rules and regulations.

Job Description: KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Serve as subject matter expert and act as a liaison to pharmacy team members and other members of the healthcare team on drug diversion and controlled substance regulations, JC and DNV accreditation standards, federal and state rules and regulations, CMS Conditions of participation, pharmacy specific accreditations held, and voluntary regulatory standards and their interpretation as they relate to pharmacy processes, procedures, and policies to ensure compliance.
Coordinate a comprehensive drug diversion surveillance and auditing plan, working collaboratively with key stakeholders to identify at risk practices and monitor for potential incidents of drug diversion.
Leads the Drug Diversion Incident Response Team (DDiRT), coordinating the preliminary investigation for missing controlled substances, and escalating concerns to include other members of DDiRT when the loss is unable to be explained or suspicion of diversion is substantial.
Leads the multidisciplinary MDPP committee, analyzing trends to identify organizational areas of opportunity for prevention, facilitating medication diversion prevention best practice implementation, and providing education and awareness to other members of the committee and the organization.
Complete gap analyses and facilitate plans for gap closure as needed to maintain compliance with existing and updated standards, rules, and regulations and assess potential organizational impact as it relates to pharmacy practice and controlled substances.
Act as liaison with community leaders and organizations to strengthen diversion prevention efforts within the community.
Effectively manages team members in a manner consistent with organizational policies and values.
Ensures the recruitment and retention of competent team members to meet the needs of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s of Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy required Experience Required: Five years of progressive responsibility in health system pharmacy or completion of an ASHP accredited pharmacy practice residency and/or advanced degree required.
Displays a working knowledge of JC and DNV medication management accreditation standards, CMS Conditions of participation, and other federal, state and local regulations, and accreditations governing pharmacy practice.
Proficient with trending and analyzing data.
Experience Preferred: Three years health system pharmacy leadership experience to include leading teams and/or projects preferred.
Licensure: State of Wisconsin pharmacist licensure PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance Category 2: Job classification is not exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties WORK ENVIRONMENT Climate controlled office setting with daily movement throughout the hospital campus Interaction with department members and other healthcare providers Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Scheduled FTE: 1 Location: ThedaCare Regional Medical Center - Appleton - Appleton,Wisconsin Overtime Exempt: Yes
