00 Hours Per Week 40 Job Description Summary Get paid to support the development of children while earning a college credential.
As an Early Childhood Education Apprentice, you will receive paid hands-on work experience in the FVTC Parent/Child Center.
You will also be enrolled in the FVTC Early Childhood Educator Apprentice program and complete 24 associate degree credits over 2 years; the credits build into the Early Childhood Education associate degree program, which can lead to career advancement in the FVTC Parent/Child Center.
This position works directly with children in the classroom under the supervision of a lead teacher and center director.
As an apprentice, you will support the lead teacher in routine program activities, conduct learning and play activities with children in small groups, and perform other duties as assigned.
The Department of Workforce Development Early Childhood Educator Apprentice program contains a total of 4000 paid hours completed over 2 years.
You will complete the apprentice program as a registered apprentice within this full-time, benefits eligible position.
You will also be eligible for tuition reimbursement for specified Early Childhood courses taken at FVTC.
A tuition discount will be offered to fulltime staff members of the PCC who have their child(ren) enrolled on a fulltime basis, pending available spots.
With a two-child maximum, a 25% discount will apply for a child under age 2 and 50% discount will apply for a child above age 2.
Job Description ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists the teacher in the classroom as directed and in a lab aide capacity.
Distributes, arranges, and maintains teaching materials and equipment.
Provides care and protection for assigned children, and assists the teacher in carrying out the daily program designed to meet the physical and developmental needs of children.
Supervises children's play activities by participating with children in group games, enforcing safety rules, and encouraging children to develop positive social relationships with each other.
Works with the teacher to develop the potential of individual children.
Brings to the attention of the teacher special problems in adjustment, learning, social interaction, or physical functioning of individual children.
Assists the children with routine activities such as naps, meals, bathroom, and dressing.
Assists the teacher with arranging the environment and prepares supplies for activities.
Attends staff meetings, training sessions, and apprentice courses.
Responsible for office/clerical duties, end-of-day closing, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Performs general housekeeping duties in the Center such as keeping classroom activity areas in prescribed order.
Fills in for other roles as needed when there are staff absences.
Fulfills center and state required Apprentice activities.
Successfully completes specified FVTC Early Childhood courses at assigned times.
QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent Completion of first FVTC apprentice course within 6 months of hire Must be 18 years of age Basic skills in Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to frequently lift up to 55 pounds Ability to frequently bend, reach and stand for long periods of time Satisfactory background check and fingerprint based criminal background check as required by the Wisconsin Administrative Code for Child Care Center Licensing ESSENTIAL APTITUDES, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS Demonstrate ethical conduct in all aspects of the work environment.
Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to maintain an excellent working relationship with internal and external customers.
Excellent oral and written communications skills, as well as good listening skills.
Ability to identify needed action without direction or supervision.
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work under pressure; attention to detail is essential.
Neatness in work and appearance.
Demonstrate a positive attitude, maturity, initiative, and integrity with a professional image contributing to the success of the College.
Work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to work with diverse student, staff, and community populations.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Additional Information Starting pay: $15.
