JOB SUMMARY:
The Allergy & Asthma Center is seeking a full-time Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our clinical staff in our mission to heal patients who suffer from allergies, asthma and other immunology diseases.
By applying the most current research, diagnostic testing and treatment, the NP will provide evidence-based, highly individualized and comprehensive patient care.
The Nurse Practitioner is a licensed independent practitioner who is responsible for managing health problems and coordinating health care for the patient in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations and the nursing standards of care.
The NP would see patients in the clinic for asthma, environmental allergies, drug allergy, immunology, food allergy along with various skin conditions from chronic hives to atopic dermatitis and allergic contact dermatitis, along with other conditions within the field of allergy and immunology.
The Nurse Practitioner will perform accurate medical history taking, physical examination, appropriate diagnostic testing and interpretation of these tests along with treatment with the collaboration of the physician.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic allergies and breathing changes.
Conducting physical examinations, testing, and interpreting medical history.
Ordering and performing diagnostic tests and procedures
Prescribing pharmacologic treatments
Counseling and educating patients about preventive measures to avoid illness
Maintains confidentiality of all patient records.
Checks in with patients about test results and prognoses.
Advises patients regarding prescriptions and treatment plans.
Follows all federal, state, and nursing guidelines, regulations, and standards.
Refers patients to specialists if necessary and analyzes medical records and reports.
Updates patient charts and uploads to Electronic Health Record (EHR) software.
Knows how to use popular tools, including: medical database software, medical research software, medical diagnosis software, medical billing software, e-prescribing software, scheduling software, billing software, and telemedicine software.
Handles the physical demands of the job, including walking and standing for long periods of time and lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.
Communicates, collaborates and problem-solves well independently, and as part of a team.
Develops strong relationships with patients and their families and has a stellar bedside manner.
HOURS AND BENEFITS:
This position is 36 hours per week.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Nurse Practitioner and Registered Nurse licenses in the state.
Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the specialty is preferred, but not required.
National board certification as a Nurse Practitioner from an accredited agency.
Master’s in Nursing required, Doctorate of Nursing preferred.
Two or more years of clinical experience as a nursing practitioner at a physician practice or in a hospital with a related specialty is strongly preferred.
