Position Description Historical Tours Internship
POSITION SUMMARY: Fashions and maintains historical tour opportunities for our guests that uses current technology, engages the past, and helps facilitate fellowship with God and one another for the purpose of discovering the best version of themselves in their world.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Use GLCC archives and public documents to identify specific locations and sites to be included in virtual or written historical tours of GLCC grounds via sitting, driving, walking, hiking, or biking.
Lawson era landmarks - towers, boat house, grape arbor, power plant, missions building, barns, Log Cabin, greenhouse, stone walls and bridges
Lawsonia Country Club Roger Williams Inn and model homes
ABA - Chapel Car Grace, Hopevale Memorial, Cathedral in the Pines, rose garden, Memory Lane
Leverage a wide range of communication tools to create guided tours using such things as, QR Codes, GPS audio tours, Facebook, etc.
Create itineraries and tours and maintain paths and points of interest for varying levels of physical abilities.
Develop knowledge and understanding of campus grounds and sites for a positive and safe experience for guests.
Independently execute, delegate, or collaborate with other departments and volunteers for the preparation and maintenance of historical sites to ensure tours can be designed with maximal enjoyment, safety, and ease of use for all guests.
Create methods to track participation, experience, or post-tour feedback.
Contribute to the overall service elements of the GLCC hospitality mission by providing recommendations, directions, and engaging in talking points with guests.
Seasonally report to Senior Director of Operations on pending and completed changes made to all sites, summarize the current season, and outline strategy for next season.
Support conference center operations on an ‘as needed’ basis in site cleaning, maintenance, housekeeping, laundry, and food service to ensure successful delivery of services to guests.

Experience in marketing, communications, IT, theatre, history, museum, or parks management.

Understand and follow GLCC’s operations policies and procedures.
Strong organization and task-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects independently with attention to detail.
Willingness to manage difficult or sensitive issues with a strong commitment to confidentiality.
